London Heathrow Airport - LHR
London Heathrow Airport is located 15 miles (24 km) west of central London in the county of Middlesex. Heathrow is the biggest airport serving the United Kingdom. London Heathrow flight arrivals and flight departures from Heathrow make it the world's third busiest airport for passenger traffic. Flights to London Heathrow bring more international passenger traffic than any other airport in the world.
Used by over 90 airlines, Heathrow airport departures reach 170 destinations worldwide. The USA is the busiest single destination with over 3.4 million passengers flying between London Heathrow Airport and JFK / Newark airports according to a 2006 survey.
There are 5 Heathrow airport terminals. At the time of writing, some BA flights have moved to T5 releasing some slots for other London Heathrow flight arrivals and departures for airlines at the other terminals. It is expected that by 2010, BA will have all of its arrivals and departures from T5. It is expected that all of the airline alliances (Oneworld, Star Alliance and SkyTeam) will each have their 'own' terminal minimizing the number of connecting passengers who have to change to a different terminal.
